I am working on an interesting new theory that indirect link building could achieve more than direct link building can alone.

What do I mean by this? Well, for pure Page Rank and SEO building, if you build hundreds (or thousands) of low quality links to your site, you risk the search engines noticing your efforts and banning you. So instead, point these links to an authority page that links to you.

I’ve seen this done to blog posts and article directories and there is no reason why Wiki or youtube could not be where you build the links to. As long as the page only contains external links that you control, there is a good chance that this works, with the following benefits:

1) No chance of search engines spotting what you are doing and punishing your site

2) Many minor links from general pages turn into 1 or 2 strong links from an authority page

3) Some believe that linking to an authority page is better for a page and carries more weight anyway

4) On such authority sites lots of little new links are totally natural and more tricky to detect

And with the way that Page Rank works, you should still get 85% of it if yours is the only external link, so well worth trying.
