What is cloud hosting?
You might have heard about “cloud hosting” and other such services, but what exactly is this and why not just stick to shared or dedicated servers?

Cloud Hosting Saves You Money
Cloud hosting is an alternative way of hosting your website, as supplied by various providers such as Gigenetcloud.com. But unlike shared and dedicated hosting where you pay a fixed amount for a fixed amount of space and capacity, with cloud hosting you are basically metered and can quickly increase and decrease your hosting services.
Treating Traffic Spikes
Say, for example as some of my customers do, a celebrity is going to plug your website on a national TV program. In this case you could be getting a huge traffic spike, maybe for as short a duration as an hour or two. But maybe until the next plug the traffic level will be almost zero.
Power, When You Need It
With cloud hosting you can tap into a huge bank of computing power and resources, switching on and off resources as and when you need them, only paying for what you have switched on. This is not possible on dedicated servers, where you would have to pay for the installation of new servers and wait for the new servers to be updated.
Why Is This Now Available?
This sort of service, and not just for website hosting, is now available because we can use the internet cheaply and easily to access technology resources from anywhere. It is easy for suppliers to provide the extra power that we need, at the press of a button.
