Why I Take Part In The Ezine Articles HAHD
It is easy to fall by the wayside when you are trying to promote a product, website or service through article writing and when each round of the HAHD comes along, I know that I am in for a lot more success.
I first took part in one of these One Hundred Articles In One Hundred Days challenges at the beginning of this year and the third one that I have attempted is now drawing to a close. But why have I taken part in all three that I have known about and what have I got out of them?
The prizes.
Well so far I have a nice collection of fridge magnets (for starting the challenges), mousemats, mugs, a clock, notebook, pens and other bits and pieces that arrive in the interesting box from the States shortly after the closure of each. These are not what it is all about for me!
The rewards of the challenges.
At least 1 article from HAHD 3 & HAHD 4 are still sending me on average 1 visitor per day to this website. Yes, months later and these articles have sent me hundreds of visitors, who are interested in the subject I am writing on. That’s over 300 visitors just off 1 article.
Not all articles have been that successful, but there are other advantages.
SEO
When I took part in HAHD 3 I concentrated on that at the expense of my other SEO work and some of my site positions did drop. But, I found a better balance in HAHD 4 of submitting to Ezine Articles and other places at the same time and my positions quickly recovered and then improved.
And a lot of the articles at Ezine Articles do show in the links back to my website, so they are doing some good.
Leaning important lessons
But this has probably been the most important part of all. By the time that HAHD5 finishes I will have submitted around 530+ articles between the three rounds (about 125 HAHD 3, and just over 200 on 4 & 5). I’ve seen a huge variation on the success of articles that on the face of it should have performed the same.
And the lesson learned is target that keyword research. Get that right and you will lure visitors to your writing. Get it wrong and no one will notice it.
Improved writing
When I first submitted to Ezine Articles I fell for many traps. Submitting articles I had used elsewhere (without my full name) and various little mistakes that they didn’t like. It was frustrating and I did actually throw in the towel for a couple of years. It was only that I saw HAHD3 that I gave them a go again.
But through learning to write to their quality standards, plus following their hints and tips in their own blog, my own standard of writing has improved. I think out of the first 100 articles only 1 was rejected (I’d forgotten to include my name when I used it elsewhere, easily sorted) and I take more time with layout and format of each piece of writing.
It’s fun
But most of all, it is fun to keep writing and building up that stock of articles and it is a good incentive to do what I know that I should be doing. And when the parcel arrives (some time in January?) it will be like a late Christmas for me!
